Sorry folks I am running behind, but the month of January was a busy month with a lot of trips done on West Lake Toho and Johns Lake. Both bodies of water have been fishing very good for us. Live wild shiners have and always will be a sure bet for catching some good chunkers.Artificial baits have also been producing well. Senko type baits, spinner baits and red eye shads have been my three main baits for catching them on artificial.
Weather has been a bit more stable as of late and bass are staging/spawning in some areas so we fully expect to see some real fat gals showing up. A lot of our catches have been coming from open water areas in and around hydrilla. We have had a few times where we actually slide an anchor out and toss some live wild shiners towards select grass patches or buggy whips. For the most part the bite was aggressive, but there have been a few scattered days where we have had to be patient and let the bass take the bait.
Till my next report, tight lines and great fishing!
