Lake Tohopekaliga
Located adjacent to the City of Kissimmee in Central Florida, the 18,810-acre West Lake Tohopekaliga has long boasted a reputation among both
recreational and tournament anglers of producing excellent fishing and trophy largemouth bass. The lake received national attention during year 2001 when professional angler Dean Rojas broke the all-time B.A.S.S. tournament record for total weight with a catch of 108 pounds of Trophy Bass. During the four day competition, two 40-pound-plus limits, 21 bass over 10 pounds, and 251 five-fish limits were brought to the scales. Two-and-one-quarter tons of Trophy Bass [Read More…]
Butler Chain of Lakes
Most first time visitors to the area may say that it is a little further away from everything than Dr. Phillips, but for luxury living at its best, look no further than the Town of Windermere. Pristine sand bottom lakes surround this small West Orange community. Boaters and Bass fisherman will love the system of canals that connects eleven lakes known as the Butler Chain of Lakes comprised of Lake Down, Little Lake Down, Wauseon Bay, Lake Butler, Lake Louise, Lake Isleworth, Lake Chase, Lake Pocket, Lake Tibet, Lake Sheen, and Fish Lake. The most popular types of boats to navigate the chain are ski boats, pontoon boats, [Read More…]
Lake Kissimmee
The lakes in the Kissimmee Chain comprise the headwaters for the entire Everglades system. These lakes are acidic with tannin-stained, relatively unproductive water. Bass fishing on the upper Kissimmee Chain is tough generally. However, at times decent numbers of bass [Read More…]
Lake Rosalie
Lake Rosalie, located in Lake Wales Florida is an amazing body of water. Connected to Lake Kissimmee thru a canal system the goes into Tiger Lake and into Kissimmee, this can be a hidden gem. Before our drought I spent a lot of time doing guide trips out here in 2006 to 2007. Although this lake is only a total of 4,578 acres and pretty much bowl shaped, this body of water has some great cover to it. This can be an angler’s paradise and can be covered in an eight hour trip easily. Trophy bass can be caught here on a pretty consistent basis using a wide range of baits. Wild shiners are of course one of the best ways to target these trophy bass [Read More…]
East Lake Toho
While located adjacent to one another, just south of the Orlando area, and connected by a canal, East Lake Toho and West Lake Toho are very different and have their own unique personalities.
West Lake Toho is noted to have islands, a flowing feeder creek, a long cove extending to the East, normal water clarity, and a tremendous amount of vegetation, both along the shorelines and well out into the lake.
East Lake Toho, on the other hand, is exceptionally clear, often with good visibility to depths [Read More…]
